Every time its as if it is the primary time and I get a sense like remembering your first kiss, the primary time you felt love or holding your new born child. It still excites, enthrals and surprises me and the fact that it could after over forty years is a source of nice wonderment to me. The TR-808 was a fundamental device within the later Detroit techno scene of the late 1980s, and was the drum machine of choice for Derrick May and Juan Atkins. The early Nineteen Eighties saw the rise of bass synthesizers, essentially the most influential being the Roland TB-303, a bass synthesizer and sequencer launched in late 1981 that later turned a fixture in electronic dance music, significantly acid home. One of the first to make use of it was Charanjit Singh in 1982, although it would not be popularized till Phuture’s “Acid Tracks” in 1987.
